This weekend the IMR girls were out doing great, with Rachel Newstead picking up the First Lady prize at Highland Perthshire Marathon, and 4th overall. IMR coach Elaine came 3rd lady in the Half Marathon. Great running from both girls, well done!!
And he’s done it.. 200 miles across Great Britain and joint first place, retaining his crown from last year. He finished in a time of 47 hours and 6 minutes, finishing jointly with Spencer Bunn. Well done Neil Rutherford, another huge achievement from a brilliant athlete.
IMR Coach Elaine has been out racing this weekend, and had a great run at the Perth Half Marathon, scooping up the 3rd lady prize!! She must have forgotten her IMR vest, but we’ll let her off this time.
This year’s Scottish ultra marathon championships were held at the Devil of the Highlands race yesterday. The race runs from Tyndrum, along the West Highland Way to Fort William, over the Devil’s Staircase, and taking in some stunning scenery. It was a tough fought race, with some brilliant performances. Well done to everyone who took…
Rachel Newstead as been training with us here at Improve my Running. Its all coming together, and she scooped up a win at the Dundee DRAM marathon this weekend. It was hot and windy conditions, so not an easy day out, but a great result for her.
Aisling from Improve my Running successfully completed the Highland Fling 53 mile ultra marathon in April. Having had to pull out of the race last year, we were really happy to see her running this year. The Highland Fling takes in beautiful scenery along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum. Well done Ailsing!
Our own coach Elaine competed in the Lakeland Trails marathon this year, which circumnavigated Lake Coniston, and included 2000ft of climbing. It was a hot day, and tough running. Well done to Elaine on her brilliant 4th place finish.
We are really excited about Richard Meade’s achievement at the Edinburgh marathon. Richard had been struggling with injuries before coming to see us, and had been training towards the marathon. He came in 5th place with a time of 2.38. Well done Richard!!
Congratulations to IMR runners Ross Grieve and Neil Rutherford who both put in strong performances at the Cataran ultra this weekend. Great preparation and confidence for upcoming priority races. Ross taking 14 th place, well done Team, supported by fellow team mate Elaine Omand.
Congratulations to IMR runner Neil Rutherford on his epic finish at the uk’s toughest race. In horrific conditions and with bad luck, getting stuck for 9 hours on top of one of the highest points, he still managed a top 20 finish. Absolutely amazing strength and willpower, well done.
